MSC Cruises
Independent Expert Reviews by Professional Travel Journalists
MSC Cruises claims to be the only line able to offer a fusion of Italian-style cruising with the best of international features.
The distinct Italian flavour is designed to set the fleet apart - the warm welcome, the decor, the design, the hospitality, the cuisine, the ambience – all expressions of ‘Made in Italy’ which the line believes makes its cruises unique.
The modern fleet offers a wide choice of itineraries, together with a high level of service in the best tradition of Italian hospitality.
In the space of a few years the company has enjoyed a meteoric growth as it has embarked on an unprecedented development programme.
MSC Cruises is a perfect choice for families as it is one of the few companies to offer free child places on its ships.
Children under the age of 18 sharing a cabin with their parents sail free, excluding flights and port fees.
The company will have nine ships operating next summer with the addition of MSC Poesia in April, complete with a naming ceremony in Dover.
MSC Fantasia will then increase the fleet size to 10 ships with its debut in December 2008. The 135,000-ton ship will also introduce the concept of the MSC Yacht Club, a so-called ‘a cruise within a cruise’ – 99 superior cabins with private check-in, concierge and butler service and special spa access as the line seeks to create the ambience of a boutique hotel while offering the facilities of a massive floating resort.
The MSC Cruises fleet will increase to 12 vessels by 2010 following the addition of MSC Serenata in spring 2009 followed by MSC Magnifica the next year.
MSC Poesia will be unveiled in Dover on April 5 before setting sail on a pre-inaugural voyage the next day to Venice. The company’s flagship will then cruise in the Mediterranean for summer 2008.
MSC Armonia will offer 13 sailings from Dover between May and August with itineraries ranging from the Baltic, North Cape and the Norwegian Fjords.
The company runs year-round Mediterranean itineraries as well as cruises in Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, South America and South Africa.
Themed cruises include Food & Wine, Art at Sea and Classical Music and Dance.
