Honeymoon Cruises
It’s difficult to imagine a holiday that’s more romantic than a honeymoon, which makes taking a cruise the perfect choice.
You only have to unpack once yet travel to see a variety of fascinating places.
Alternatively, simply stay in bed all day watching films while being pampered by room service before venturing out to sample fine wines and cuisine before enjoying top entertainment on board.
So it will come as no surprise to learn that a cruise beats a beach holiday, city break and leaves skiing, safaris and camping holidays in its wake when it comes to romance.
That’s the finding of research carried out by P&O Cruises which found that more than half of people who have cruised rated the experience as the most romantic compared with just one in five who voted beach holidays number one.
That is why honeymoons at sea – together with weddings, anniversaries and renewal of vows – are becoming an increasingly popular cruise option.
Certainly, the P&O Cruises poll discovered that a third of people found having the time and space to relax with their partner/loved one made it romantic for them, making a cruise holiday the ideal option.
Imagine watching the sunset come down from a private balcony cabin overlooking the ocean with a nightcap before retiring….just what a honeymoon should all be about.
Cruise lines run a variety of special occasion packages to help honeymooners celebrate in style with added extra such as Champagne breakfast in bed, bathrobes, hand-finished chocolates and flowers in your cabin on arrival, massages and facials and the opportunity to have a formal portrait photograph taken with the Captain.
Some companies even run celebration cocktail parties for honeymoon couples.
Small supplements can bring special surprises such as a honeymoon cake and engraved Champagne flutes.
Newlyweds are treated with extra special service on board lines such as Celebrity Cruises where couples have an evening Champagne celebration with hors d’oeuvres and a greeting from the ship’s officers.
Many ships have cabins or suites with king or queen-sized beds and can provide tables for two in the dining room for those wanting an intimate meal.
It is also worth looking out for Sunday sailings, allowing the happy couple to plan a Saturday wedding and reception before departing to join their ship the following day.
