Azamara Cruises is a distinctive new cruise brand from the Royal Caribbean International/Celebrity Cruises stable.

Designed specifically for more off the beaten track itineraries, the company is running two ships in a range of exotic destinations including the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Asia and South America.

The deluxe vessels Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest are designed to offer a more intimate cruise experience with each carrying no more than 710 passengers each.

The relatively small size of the ships enables them to visit more unusual destinations that larger vessels pass by such as Sorrento, Split, Taormina and Cartagena.

Azamara Journey’s summer 2008 itineraries include sailings from Barcelona to Venice and back, a voyage from Barcelona to Copenhagen, round-Britain and Norwegian Fjords cruises, Egypt and Israel sailings between Barcelona and Athens and a series of Western Mediterranean sailings.

The ship then crosses the Atlantic for its winter 2008-09 season in South America from Buenos Aires to destinations such as Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and round Cape Horn.

Azamara Quest will operate from Singapore and Hong Kong in winter 2008-09 covering countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China and Japan.

Round the world voyages are planned for 2010.
